Voltage affect on Fan Performance


Fan performance at sea level will degrade if the same fan is operated at a higher elevation even if the barometric pressure is the similar.  WPB benched tested the same FanTech HP220 fan at three different elevations using the same setup in each bench test and including the difference in barometric pressure, temperature and relative humidity.  The graph below illustrates the results.  The general rule is to figure a 3% loss for each 1000 feet of elevation.

 The WPB test indicates the loss was less than 1.5% per 1000 feet for airflow and less than 3% per 1000 feet for maximum vacuum.
